Surprise...Switchfoot

Tuesday was Josh's birthday and I decided to go ahead and buy some concert tickets to see Switchfoot here at the Rialto Theater. I wasn't so sure how it was going to be, but I must say this was by far one of my favorite bands to see live. You know how you go to a concert for someone you really like and then they suck live and it just ruins it for you. This was not one of those times thank goodness. I haven't been to a concert since KFMA day back in 2005. I had just found out I was pregnant with Sydney like the day before and was not excited about going to a concert anymore. I do remember being really hungry and wanting some chili fries real bad. Going to this concert made me reminisce about my rebelious concert-going days. I have been to quite a few. The worst one was Edgefest? Up in Phoenix in July. I about died from dehydration and almost died several times in a Pennywise mosh pit. I'm not really sure why I was in that crowd. Josh and I both agree that the Jimmy Eat World, The Format, and Something Corporate concert was one of the best. It was up at the Mesa Amphitheatre on a grassy lawn outside. Very fun. I also enjoyed seeing Yellowcard live too. The violin in a rock band is a very cool sound. My worst was both Blink 182 concerts. I kept talking myself into thinking they were a great and wholesome band, but I realize they are not and the people that go to these concerts are not either. I saw so many body parts that I didn't want to see. Ugh. Anyway, Switchfoot was great. So much energy and the lead singer is a REALLY good singer. He just knew how to sing and to involve the crowd. It was great and I'd see them again. Now I want to go to more concerts again. I thought I was too old for that, but I really like concerts and the energy at them. Although I do really feel old when I see the kids at these things. Josh and I were joking about how old we were. He actually though about bringing ear plugs! We even sat down for the opening bands because we were so tired. :0 We did manage to get our old selves up for the headlining band and it was fun. Oh to be young and carfree again. :)

Sydney's first steps

So, Sydney took her first steps all by herself today. I was watching some home videos of her when she was a baby as she decided she was going to be a big girl and walk. I saw her in the corner of my eye stand up and then I saw her move her foot up and I gasped. I think that scared her and she fell down, but quickly got back up and took several steps. I couldn't believe it. She fell and then got back up and took even more steps. I was so excited and I could tell she was so proud of herself. She was laughing and smiling. I can't believe she will be walking soon. I knew it would happen soon, but didn't know when. It is the cutest thing. Everyone tells me it will be hard when she walks, but she's already getting into stuff and reaching for things. She sure is the cutest. I am proud of her first little steps and can't wait for more. I hope she walks a little for daddy, since he missed it.

Where does that time go?

Ever since I became a stay at home mom, time seems to go extremely fast. Some days are really long, but when I look back it really went by fast. Today Josh put Sydney's hair up in pigtails and she looked so cute. The scary thing was she also looked so old. Since when can she wear pigtails? She is also getting close to walking. I can feel it. She will stand up without the assistance of anything for quite awhile. I think yesterday was her record, maybe about a minute. She just has to move those feet forward. It will be weird when she does walk and instead of someone crawling at my feet I'll have someone standing up past my knees. She is sure a talker too. She trys to mimic words we say to her and does a pretty good job at it. She is always babbling. I wonder what she thinks she is saying. :) She is also becoming one of those toddlers I never thought I'd have. The one that screams and cries and thrashes her body around. Boy, I don't have the patience for that. I hope I can find it. She is also figuring out how to take advantage of her mommy. She loves to put things in her mouth especially carpet fuzz. The other day I saw her with a piece and said, don't put that in your mouth, and she crawled over to the side of the couch trying to get out of view and slowly put that carpet fuzz up to her mouth. I caught her doing this and she had this little grin on her face like she knew what she was doing was wrong. She also has this obsession with the bathroom and everything in the cabinets. I tell her not to go in there a million times a day. Today she snuck in and discovered lipstick and much to my horror got it all over her clothes and hands. I was pretty upset about that. Oh well, she's still cute. Right now she shut the door in her room and can't get out so she's calling out for me. That's funny.
So, in other news I drove by our house on Friday thinking maybe they had gotten the cement poured and to my surprise they were already framing and had done quite a bit. I couldn't believe it. It made me really nervous because we are barely finishing our condo to put on the market and are not ready for a house to be done in 4 or 5 months. It will probably take a while still. I'm sure they'll do things fast and then it will take a while to get to the next step. It is neat having a house built. Kind of unbelievable for me.
Here's a recent photo of Sydney. I took her out just behind our condo on the grass and she played like she never goes outside at all. Oh wait, she doesn't, because I'm a lame mom. :)
